Child actor Jay Thakkar has done various challenging roles, considering the age that he is in. Last seen as the negative Rakwaan in Life OK’s The Adventures of Hatim, Jay is now busy with his studies, as he is in class 10. Popularly known for his central role of Cheeku in SAB TV’s very popular show Gutur Gu, India’s first silent comedy produced by Fireworks Productions, Jay grabbed all limelight for his acting prowess. Now, with the third season of Gutur Gu getting underway (went on floor on 3 September), Jay will be badly missed on the show. The boy will not be seen on the show for two reasons. As per a source, “Jay’s studies has taken prominence now, as he is in the 10th standard. Also, the maker needed a younger kid to play the role of Cheeku. And with Jay growing up, he does not fit into the role of Cheeku anymore.” When contacted, Jay Thakkar said, “I am not replaced from Gutur Gu.” His mother went on to state, “Yes, it is true that Gutur Gu needed a younger kid. There were recent reports about Jay being replaced in Gutur Gu 3. That is not true. Since he is in his 10th, we wanted him to concentrate on his studies. For these reasons, the maker went in for a new face to play the role. I want to clarify that Jay has not been replaced, as his reputation as an actor will be at stake.” For the uninitiated, Jay Thakkar’s role will be played by Harsh Mittal in Season 3 of Gutur Gu.
