I hope viewers remember me as Karn too - Basant Bhatt

Starting off as a performer in various cultural activities in school and colleges, Basant Bhatt knew he wanted to enter the entertainment industry. Soon he started giving auditions, and also enjoyed a stint in theatres before the plump offer of playing the teenage Karn came his way.

The actor is currently essaying the lead character in Sony Entertainment Television’s Suryaputra Karn (Swastik Productions). “I was dabbling with theatres and also working as a personal yoga instructor when this offer came knocking on my door. I was more than happy to take up the role and I must say it has been the best role that any new comer could have asked for.”

“Karn is not just a character, but the symbol of a common person for me. His struggles and challenges have made him a hero. Initially it was really difficult for me to pick the attitude and personality, but thanks to my directors and team, I was capable of pulling it off. I read books on Karn, and discussed a lot with my creatives to get the right detailing,” Basant added.

Vishesh Bansal played the younger Karn, and Gautam Rode is all set to take forward the story now. We asked the actor if there was any apprehension of taking a project that would have him for a limited time period. “When I had given the auditions, I hadn’t even thought that I will get any role. To bag the lead in Karn, is like a dream come true for me.”

“I must say that Vishesh has done a superb job and I wanted to not let his fans disappointed. Although yes, for me it was a sad moment when fans were thrashing me online even when I hadn’t entered the show. But friends and family supported me and today there are people who are asking me not to leave the show. I think it is the blessing of God that I have managed to win their hearts. And now I just hope viewers would remember me as Karn too (smiles),” smiled Basant.

Talking about Gautam, the young actor mentions that he is the best choice as Karn. “I think he has a great personality and would look superb as Karn. I think he is an inspiration with the way he has managed to stay so fit. I really wish to learn things from him and utilise them in my near future,” said the 21 year old guy..

And finally when we asked him on what kind of roles he would want to do next, Basant said. “For now, I want to sleep and rest for a while to wear off the stress. I have really worked hard and I need to go home and chill for some time. I will start giving auditions and hopefully something interesting will come my way.”

Good luck young boy!!!
