For actor Sumit Arora, the biggest challenge while taking up shows is to not fall into the stereotyped roles!! The multi-talented Sumit Arora who has been seen in shows like Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na on Sony TV and Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV is presently seen as Gaumukh on SAB TV’s Chidiya Ghar.

Talking about how he ventured into acting, Sumit said, “I was in the 6th grade when I started acting in a play in my school as my friends wanted me to participate, in which I stood in the first position. That is when the acting bug bit me. I then joined a theatre group and acting on television just followed.”

Talking about comedy, a genre which has evolved amidst the spicy plots of daily soaps, Sumit is of the opinion that situational comedies are the best amongst the sub genres of comedy.

Adding further thought to it he stated, “Firstly comedy is a very difficult genre to essay. It requires a lot of energy and the challenge comes in when an actor is not in a mood or is dealing with a personal problem. Comedy happens on the basis of action and reaction. I remember when I was shooting for Pavitra Rishta it was difficult for me to pursue the character which required being subtle and then when I got back with Chidiya Ghar I was required to be loud. With other genres, actors get time to pause and relax for a second but with comedy one has to constantly have a reaction to an action. What keeps me going to do comedy is my passion for the genre,” he added.

The handsome Sumit claimed that not all shows have the power to attract as much audience and that may be because the audience can connect their emotions better with drama shows while comedy is a source of laughter and entertainment.

Said Sumit, “I particularly like doing Chidiya Ghar because it has an element of drama where people can emotionally connect and at the same time enjoy their dose of laughter. This is not the case with many shows we see on television today.”

Apart from Chidiya Ghar we asked the actor about the other shows that he liked, and Sumit averred, “I like watching Lapataganj and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.”

He went on to state, “I firstly make sure I download my shows and watch it religiously to improve my performance and then if I have some time left for myself, I watch television shows like Lapataganj and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. I thoroughly love watching Dilip Joshi who essays Jethalal on the show. He is a fabulous performer.”

We enjoy watching you, Sumit!!
