The bubbly and cute Anjana Padmanabhan from Bangalore was recently crowned as the first Indian Idol Junior (Fremantle Media India). The ten year old – who had been the favourite of all the guests who came on the show and also made Shreya Ghoshal weep with her talent – was awarded the trophy by none other than the living legend Amitabh Bachchan.
Speaking exclusively to Tellychakkar.com after her triumph, the young girl sounding all excited, “I never thought I will win the show. But I was very happy when my name was announced.”
When we asked her about who she thought had a chance to win apart from her, she smiled, “I have no clue, all four finalists were very good and thus it was a really tough fight. All four of us were very deserving and I am glad people showered so much love on me and made me the first Indian Idol Junior.”
Talking about her singing training, the girl quipped, “I have trained myself in Carnatic music for around three years, and then I learnt Hindustani classical for sometime before coming in this competition. So I am not really formally trained in it.”
She further added, “My parents have been a constant support to me and when I told them my decision to participate in this competition they whole heartedly backed me throughout.”
With popular stars coming on the show as special guests, we quizzed on her favourite guest, to which she quickly replied, “It has to be Shah Rukh Khan. It was so much fun shooting with him.” But the girl also added that her favourite moment on the show was when Amitabh Bachchan announced her name as the winner.
The talented girl said she would now want to train herself in singing and one day wishes to grow up and sing like her idol, Shreya Ghoshal. But her immediate plans are quite different as she averred, “I want to enjoy ice cream, pani puri and all the stuff I was not allowed to eat during the competition.”
Well Anjana, after the hard work you’ve put up, you truly deserve a break. And we at Tellychakkar.com would like to congratulate you once again on your marvelous feat.
