Joining the Groovy Gurus and the jodis on this Friday episode are Madhur Bhandarkar and Sameer Tondon to promote their forthcoming film Corporate. All along this series of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Zee has had a promotional tie up with new film releases. Stars from 36 China Town, Phir Hera Pheri and many other films have graced the sets to enjoy the music and promote their film. Bhandarkar is known for his realistic portrayal of different themes. His films like Page 3, Satta, Aan: Men At Work, Chandni Bar have received wide critical acclaim. His latest film Corporate takes a scathing and hard-hitting look at the enigmatic world of entrepreneurship and has Bipasha Basu and Kay Kay Menon as the lead actors. “That is my favourite song,” said Bhandarkar after each performance by the jodis, leading to Ishitta teasing him. Tondon spoke of his association with Bhandarkar saying that it was a pleasure to work with a director whose work is known to be sensitive, hard hitting and not conventional. He, too, left impressed with the way the young jodis performed to a live orchestra. In the first round after Ujjaini/Aishwarya had sung Dil ki girah khol do, Tondon remarked, “I have recently recorded with Manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar and listening to Ujjaini/Aishwarya now, all I could visualize is Lataji and Manna Da. I just have to advice them to inculcate the consistency and discipline of the both the legendary singers.” Bhandarkar was similarly impressed with Banjyotsna/Sharib saying, “Sharib was original in his rendition of the song Dafli wale and both have fresh voices.” Tondon also sings the first few lines of the closing song Jeena Yahan… and is then joined by Hariharan, Leslie Lewis and the jodis. Hearing the orchestra, Tondon said, “It is awesome that people as young as them are getting an opportunity to showcase their talent to billions of people via television. I am envious of them.”
