Blame it on an injured foot, but Maniee De, who prefers to be called Maninee Mihir Misra now, has had to turn down a role in Yash Chopra's next flick, a Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

The bubbly actor, who suffered torn ligaments in her ankle when she slipped on the staircase of the Sarrkkar sets on 7 March, is still recuperating, having spent a better part of the time with her foot in a cast.

She resumes work on Friday, this time for Sab TV's forthcoming female oriented soap, Twinkle Beauty Parlour. As for the Yashraj movie she had to turn down, Maninee rues, "It was a really exciting offer. But I would have had to give them early dates for being part of a hockey camp, something I just could not have done with my foot in this condition."

Maninee was to have been part of a hockey team and play of the favourites of the coach, Shah Rukh.

She shrugs philosophically, "I prefer not to dwell on what could have been. It's better to look ahead, that too without many expectations!"

She wound up her shoot for Sarrkkar in a day, but had to have her re-emergence in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin cut short, thanks to the injury. Now, she gets to play a lawyer in Twinkle Beauty Parlour, a simple, extremely unglamorous lawyer. Maninee is happy that the series will offer a realistic portrayal of women in various occupations.
