Mohit Malik is elated after bagging his first award at the Gold Awards 2014

Actor Mohit Malik is presently on ‘cloud nine’ after winning his first ever award at the Gold Awards 2014 held recently for the fabulous portrayal of Samrat Singh Rathore in Zee TV’s Doli Armaanon Ki (Spellbound Productions). Yes, he won the award for the Best Actor in a Negative Role. Says an elated Mohit, “This was my first nomination ever, and I am glad to hold the trophy in my hand. I always knew that Samrat was a very unusual character on television. And I have been lucky to portray such a character. With so many appreciations pouring in, and of course the award to cherish, I feel I have done justice to the character of Samrat.” Mohit who has done shows like Jabb Love Hua, Pari Hoon Main, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Godh Bharaai, Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya, Phulwa, Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year is thankful to Zee TV and Producer Pearl Grey for believing in him. Mohit states, “I am grateful to everyone who has helped me don the character of Samrat. I love Samrat to the core, and will want to put greater efforts to take the show to new heights.” Ask him if he misses the ‘lovey-dovey’ moments with his lead girl in the show, as Samrat is not the typical romantic guy and Mohit quickly avers, “Well, I really don’t see a character like Samrat sharing a romantic moment with Urmi. He is so unlike other lead characters, and this is where he stands out from the rest. But you never know, a daily soap has to offer the romantic dose to the audience, and Samrat might end up loving Urmi as the story goes on. But as of now, I am enjoying what Samrat is doing.” The multi-layered character of Samrat recently added a feather in the cap by shooting for some lighter moments in the show. “The ongoing track has Samrat trying his best to take care of his son, after his Tauji (Anupam Shyam) has thrown a challenge at him that he can take care of his kid just like the mother (Urmi). The viewers love the scenes where Samrat’s lighter and funny moments have been portrayed. I have had people sending me mails and messages saying they are loving the track, and that Samrat’s reactions leaves them in splits. This only adds to the various shades of Samrat,” states the actor. Mohit, keep up the good work!!
