Navya did not end abruptly: Soumya Seth

Soumya Seth, who is all set to impress the audience again with Sony Entertainment Television’s new show Khoobsurat, disputes the assumption that her debut Star Plus show Navya was a flop. “It did well. We ran for a good one year. One can say that a show has done badly only if it winds up within two or three months.” The actress who then went on to act in Channel V’s The Serial says, “I salute Navya for it brought college romance on Star Plus. I had great fun enacting the student part. But you can’t go on showing campus fun just because the TRPs are good. Life has to move on and so did Navya’s story. After college, we showed the job scene as well. I believe in such light hearted serials that the youth can relate themselves with.” "When Navya ended many people were asking me if it was being abruptly shut down. Then too I had categorically said that it was not. The plot had reached its logical conclusion. We began with my character’s college life and then she finally gets married and lives happily ever after,” she maintains. Soumya also no problems with the fact that Navya eventually did tread the usual saas bahu serial path. “It so happens that the actors have little to do, if the production house (Swastik Pictures) and channel wants it. Though we don’t like this from within, we have to give in as it is our bread and butter,” she reasons. Summing up the discussion, Soumya shares, “I am happy that we shut down at the right time instead of stretching it too long and boring the audiences. It is now a pleasure to work with Sony as it is the only channel that tries to push the content envelope compared to the others which only offer unending dramas and that is something I don’t like.”
