Simi Selects India’s most desirables will see Neil Nitin Mukesh in the hot seat this week. And if one goes by the rushes from the show Neil Nitin has answered almost all the questions she has posed to him extremely candidly. She asks him how he got his name and he responds: “When I was born, Lata ji came home and she saw me and she said ‘ye to angrez ka bachha lagta hai’ ....’ye toh angrez ka bachha dikhta hai, iska naam Neil hona chahiye …aur N-e-e-l nahi, N-e-i-l.” On being asked why he has not taken to crooning at the mike considering that he is Mukeshji’s grandson and music probably runs in his genes, he responds by saying, “Very soon. Very soon you’ll be hearing me singing my composition,…yeah! On being asked what he desires in a woman, he says, “I think she needs to be simple, smart and stylish –somebody who understands that I respect my family a lot, and they are my priority and somebody who will help me build that”. When Simi asks Neil if God gave him a choice to either have a great movie career as a top star or find a soul mate - which would he choose, he responds, “I probably will choose soul mate. A soul mate is something that you rarely find.” His reply to the question whether his parents are his friends is interesting: “No - not at all. I mean that’s one thing that I think papa has made sure that we never make our parents our friends. My father is not a buddy to me. My father is my father. If my father becomes my buddy then who is my father.” On being asked if it’s true that his father doesn’t sleep till he comes back home at night he says, “Actually my father is like a baby. And he needs to be pampered and constantly looked after. But being a father I think I would probably do the same if my sons are out and you know at late hours of night. I would be worried about him. I would expect him to come back and be safe in his bedroom and I think that’s exactly what papa does." On being asked who his close friends were while growing up, he says, “You know the Mukesh family and the Kapoor family are one – in fact Ranbir, Arya Babbar, Mimoh (Mithunda’s son) and I were in college also together. Ranbir is a mad mad fellow, definitely. I never saw him attending one lecture. Never I think Ranbir had his own college going on outside HR college – there was this entire class and he was the principal and the teacher. It’s a fact. I so wanted to be a part of his, small, school” His repartee on his being single reveals his character. Says he: “I am single but I am open to the fact that I can fall in love. I think the most attractive quality in a woman is her hair. And then of course the eyes.” On being asked who does he think has redefined their status to become symbol of desirability he says, “I think it would be Priyanka Chopra. I think because she’s multi-faceted and she’s a brilliant performer.”
