The Bournvita Quiz Contest which started way back in 1972, is still rocking. This iconic show made a return to Colors in 2011. Kids from various schools participate in it. When most schools advise their children to switch off the TV, this quiz contest is on the hit list of the highly recommended programmes by teachers and principals. We just had to nominate it.

A common grievance is that kids shouldn’t be made to compete on national television. This is exactly why we have nominated Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz as it is a show with a difference. It was a show sans any competition whatsoever simply to showcase kids’ talents. Kids between four to sixteen were the participants in this series.
The best bedtime story for any child is a fairy tale. SAB TV’s Baalveer which is a story set in fairyland fully deserves our nomination for Best Kid’s Programme. Fairyland has been etched out in splendid graphics. The fairies have lovely flowing costumes. This show was highly innovative in bringing forth the character of a negative fairy named Bhayankar Pari, diverting from the hackneyed path that fairies are virtuous and perfect.

Best of Luck Nikki- 2 on the Disney Channel may be an Indian adaptation of Good Luck Charlie but it is a unique show nevertheless. Whereas it is a progressive sign that Indians are gradually learning family planning aiming at population control; it is also nice to watch at least in fiction what a family with many kids is like. The show is about how a hapless family is trying to adjust with the birth of the fourth child along with many funny moments. It stays true to the social message that large families should be avoided. Besides appealing to kids, this serial provides wholesome family entertainment on Sunday mornings.

Just like singing and dancing talent need to be identified early and honed; so does acting talent. That is exactly what Zee TV’s India’s Best Dramebaaz does in an age when mainly singing and dance shows are mushrooming. That is one of the reasons as to why we have nominated it. This show is a unique talent hunt for children who can show drama, performing a series of tasks to test their creativity, spontaneity and acting capabilities.
