Expressing his happiness being a part of Lapataganj… Anup feels that when Lapataganj started off, he did not think the show would be a big hit amongst viewers. He expressed, “At first I thought about the concept of the show and wondered if this would work as the drama revolved around a village atmosphere. I later realized that people never forget their roots. Today people eat pizzas, burgers and roam in malls, but there also comes a moment when one will talk about the happy times they had when they once bought samosas or mithais at a Suttilal’s shop in childhood. It is fascinating when we see Facebook pages having so many likes; we even have NRIs calling from abroad appreciating us of how Lapataganj reminds them of their roots in India.” Going down the memory lane, the gifted actor spoke of an incident in Haridwar where people were overwhelmed to see the cast shooting and excitedly told them how they could not sleep if they did not watch the show. On the task of making people laugh, Anup said, “Know what? When you enjoy your work, people will enjoy with you. The acting has to come out effortlessly. When there is an effort made to make people laugh, be sure it will never work in favour of the actor. As the phrase goes!
