The numero uno show on TV- Diya Aur Baati Hum (Shashi Sumeet Productions Pvt Ltd) on Star Plus recently saw the elderly couple Bhabho (Neelu Waghela) and Babasa (Ashok Lokhande) taking their marital vows once again.
This also made Sandhya (Deepika Singh) realise that she has missed on the beauty and purity of these vows and hence, plans to get married once again to Sooraj (Anas Rashid).
Sounds really sweet, but we were really impressed seeing Bhabho and Babasa take their nuptial vows. We thus decided to speak to the talented Ashok Lokhande about the same, who said, “It was definitely a very good experience and fun too. No other show gives a chance to veterans like us to deck up, romance or marry on-screen. So it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us.”
Speaking further he adds, “Our culture is so rich and marriage holds a very important part in it and we are just highlighting the same. You won’t believe, we got such a positive response, mostly from the older group of people who loyally follow the show. It actually revived their days of mushiness (smiles).”
Ashok also makes it clear that just because the tradition is being highlighted doesn’t mean that the core plot will shift. “Sandhya who had married due to family pressure will realise the sanctity of this bond and feel like marrying again. But her ambition will not take a backseat; it’s just that she wants to enjoy a happy married life too.”
The actor says he is glad that this show does not waste an iota of talented actors they have on board. “Most popular shows today have good actors behaving as mere showpieces, but I am proud that our show has separate tracks for everyone of us and has given is a chance to perform.”
That’s so true!! Get ready for a full season of marriage on Diya Aur Baati Hum.
