Gaurav Singh’s doze of happiness

The ups and downs of the showbiz can leave anyone feeling low; however, actor Gaurav Singh has his own ways to keep himself happy and healthy. The actor, who was seen in shows such as Devanshi, Gumrah, Crime Patrol, Krishna Kanhaiya, says the right diet is the way to a happy life. “I try to eat right and drink lots of water throughout the day. Apart from this, I make it a point to exercise and meditate regularly. This helps in maintaining a balance between the heart and brain. And most importantly, no matter what, always have a smile on your face,” he says.

His other dose of happiness is his family. “My family makes me happy beyond words. They are the ones who have always been there and no matter what I go through, they are my anti-depressants,” he says.

The fact that Gaurav doesn’t compare himself to others is another reason for him to always be content with his career. “My philosophy in life is that I don't compare myself with others. I am a satisfied soul. Plus, I take inspiration from people who are doing great instead of being jealous of them. I think this also helps me to stay in a happy state,” says the actor.

National Vegetarian Day: You will feel the satisfaction of not killing someone, says Gurucharan Singh

As he celebrates World Vegetarian Day, actor Gurucharan Singh talks about how maintaining a vegetarian diet helps him. “You will feel very energetic. You have the satisfaction of not killing anyone to serve your hunger as well,” says the actor, adding, “It is good to eat vegetables. It will make you look younger. Vegetables are very good for health.”

Ask him if he has ever tasted non vegetarian food, and he says, “Around 20 years back, I was a non vegetarian. But when I saw the slaughtering of chicken at my cousin's wedding, it affected me a lot emotionally. So, I stopped eating non-vegetarian food from that moment. I am happy being a vegetarian.”

He loves everything in vegetarian food. “I have a craving for Paneer. Other than that, I love to eat everything even Bitter Gourd,” he says.

Ask him if he would like to convince others to eat vegetarian food as well, and he says, “I don’t think such a thing can be forced, it needs to come from within.”

National Vegetarian Day: Saurabh Pandey advocates Vegetarianism

Although there have been occasions where he has had non-vegetarian food, actor Saurabh Pandey says that he has always been happy being a vegetarian. The actor says that being vegetarian helps keep him healthy. “The advantages of being a vegetarian are that it’s good for your health. If you have vegetarian food, you have less cholesterol and other related issues. Non-vegetarian food requires killing and harming animals. Animals are more sensitive to pain than plants. Also, animals are pumped with artificial steroids to make them grow bigger muscles. They are given a lot of preservatives. So, you are also pumping yourself with chemicals rather than eating healthy,” he says.

He will always choose vegetarian food over non-vegetarian. Says Saurabh, “Since my childhood, I have been a vegetarian. But there were times when I was forced to eat non-veg. Like if my trainer would tell me to eat for muscle gain or B12. But most of the times, I feel light when I eat vegetarian food. That is my first option always,” he says.

Ask him what are his favourite vegetarian delicacies, and he says, “In veg, south Indian food that is dosa idly and Makki ki roti, sarson ka saag are my favourites.”

Saurabh doesn’t feel that vegetarianism can be forced on someone. “I haven’t had a debate with anyone or tried to convert anyone.  It’s a personal choice. When they realise the good points of vegetarianism, they will automatically turn vegetarian,” he says.
