MUMBAI: Pankit Thakker has carved a niche for himself in the television world. He has been a part of several TV shows including Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii and Dill Mill Gayye. Currently, he is seen in Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha.

The actor, in an interview, spoke about being addicted to tobacco and alcohol while having a fall out in his marriage with wife Prachi Thakker. On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day today (May 31), which is celebrated to spread awareness regarding the ill and harmful effects of tobacco, Pankit said to Times of India, "I was addicted to smoking. But that was because of my marital problems. I always thought that I'm a chain smoker. I also used to consume alcohol a lot when I was in my marriage. And when I left home, felt I will drink and smoke even more. But surprisingly later I quit all my bad habits. I realised that smoking tobacco gives you the pleasure of a moment but kills you in the process."

He said to the daily, "After giving up my addiction I realised that I was actually in a bad relationship and I wanted an escape so I was addicted to all the unhealthy stuff. I have always been battling smoking, drinking, playing video games, and eating junk. But I never knew that it was all because of my relationship issues.”

“Now since past so many years I am not addicted to anything and my life has been so good. I have never been so healthy in my mind and body. However, I don't blame my wife for it. But it was our relationship which has fallen to the worst,” he added.
