One such angelic couple is Shailesh and Ashita Gulabani, who have completed four years of nuptial bliss today (20 January 2014). Now, let’s talk to Ashita and take her down the memory lane. “Firstly, I want to thank everyone for their lovely wishes. Well, many are not aware that Shailesh and I were in the same college (MMK). Even though I had a huge crush on him but I never spoke to him. After graduation, Shailesh was doing his first television show Kkavyanjali and I was doing Kayamat. And Kishwer Merchantt, who was doing both the shows at the same time, was our mediator passing on messages to each other and conveying our feelings to each other.” “It all started when we met for the first time at the after party of the Star Parivaar Awards. There Shailesh approached me by asking me to dance with him and you won’t believe none of us uttered a single word but felt our love for each other. But then when my mom called over phone, I ran away with a broad smile. Isn’t it like a filmi story? But yes that’s the way we met, fell in love and the rest is now history. We are a small family and blessed by lovely twins,” Ashita adds. How has life changed in these years? “It has got better. Our compatibility has got stronger with each passing day. We don’t fight and sometimes I tell Shailesh that we should have some small arguments (smiles). But I guess that’s the way we are. We both are mature and that is why we are still together with a strong bond,” she answers. Anything shocking that you have learnt about Shailesh in these many years? “(Smiles) Over the years he has become very calm. In college he was a flamboyant kind of a guy. You can say that he was the Shah Rukh Khan of our college and girls used to flatter him. Having him in my life is like cherry and cream on a cake.” So how are you celebrating this special day? “Last night we went to a dhaba with a couple of close friends. There we dedicated songs for each other and had a good time. Today I am shooting (Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya) and will spend the entire evening with Shailesh and the kids,” the actress observed. Any gifts you have received? “Shailesh’s gift is still pending but I gave him greeting cards and two sweat shirts. But in today’s time where marriages are falling apart, we are doing very well and it is all because of Shailesh’s love and support. That is his biggest gift to me,” she ends.
