Neha Sargam who is seen playing Sita in Zee TV’s Ramayan (Sagar Pictures) is amazed at the way Sita is portrayed. She is shown to be very independent. According to her, Sita was more independent than many of today’s generation girls.

Explaining her thought, Neha tells Tellychakkar.com, “Sita got a chance to choose her own mate through a Swayamvar, which modern women cannot think of today. Which woman of today enjoys this liberty? Plus, she was a very strong woman who stood for her words. She was very confident and moved through adverse situations with her head held high. She is the strongest woman I have come across in Hindu mythology.”

Neha does not support the ‘Agni Pariksha’ test that Sita eventually went through after getting back from Lanka. “Although there are many schools of thought regarding the same, some say Sita was in the protection of the fire Goddess and the lady who got kidnapped was only her image. Having said this, Sita still came out with flying colors. I feel just like Sita mata had to undergo the loyalty test, Lord Ram should have done the same.”

She also adds, “I also don’t support Lord Ram’s decision to banish his wife just on the suspicion of a mere washer man. I would not expect such treatment from my partner. Rather, I would expect him to stand by me through thick and thin. At the same time, I also believe that whatever happened was part of destiny. I guess Ram had to live without Sita and Luv and Kush had to be born in the jungle.”

Neha has actually learnt to live with a lot more grace, after essaying Sita on screen. Also, she has become more patient in nature. “I am lucky to have been a part of Ramayan at a time where there is so much exposure. Fans unlike earlier times, can in fact identify the difference in the character and actor. While they praise my work, they don’t touch my feet.”

Neha has a role model in her parents when it comes to the closeness of Ram and Sita. “Seeing the love and devotion between Ram and Sita, I would say my parents come closest to them as they have the same feelings towards each other.”

Neha, we appreciate your thoughts!!!
