Nirbhaya’s rape on that uneventful chilly night in Delhi highlighted the vulnerability of women in our country in a big way and the subsequent amendment in the law and provision for harsher punishment like death penalty for perpetrators of such heinous crime was a timely intervention by the Government to curb this menace.

But have these measures actually proved to be deterrent?

The answer is a big ‘No’ at least the plight of 16-year old Vidya Mishra will prove it. Her tale will be highlighted in the upcoming episode of Sony Entertainment Television’s Crime Patrol (Optimystix Productions).

The story will portray a heart wrenching story of Vidya a resident of Ruibagachi village, West Bengal.

Vidya, a young girl would be staying with her father in a village. When her father would return late at night, he will find the door locked from outside and after a search he will realise that his daughter would nowhere to be found.

And the father will be shocked when he will go to the police station to lodge a complaint, the officers there will take it very casually, delay with their search operations making it all the more difficult for the search of Vidya.
