Diwali Dhamaka! That's the best way to describe the special episode of Nach Baliye 3. The mere presence of Shah Rukh Khan (celebrity judge) lit up the occasion. As promised by his friend Farah Khan, Shah Rukh paid a visit to Nach, albeit a little later than expected.
Dressed in a cool T-shirt, jeans and black jacket, King Khan was at his casual best. Upon his arrival, he greeted happy Diwali to all. SRK confessed to seeing the show a couple of times and that he'd been impressed by the performers. Not surprisingly, SRK also spoke about his film Om Shanti Om, which releases on 9 November. Expectedly the episode theme was 70's tracks.
For the four remaining jodis, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in front of their favourite superstar and they didn't disappoint. Junta's favourite Rakhi Sawant elicited a huge response from both the judges and the audience. A modest Shah Rukh said that he's learnt dancing from Rakhi. The ever so vivacious Rakhi jumped in joy. She requested King Khan to perform with him. SRK didn't disappoint and did a little jig for her.
One couple that was particularly keen to meet SRK was the American-desi duo of Alex O'Neil and Shweta Keswani. While Shah Rukh lauded their performance, the duo, in particular Shweta, wasn't all that pleased with the outcome. Says Shweta, "I sincerely believe that our performance wasn't up to the mark. Maybe, I was overawed by SRK's presence. He looks real hot."
Shweta's fiancé Alex had this to say, "I'm just so lucky to have performed in front of Shah Rukh. I was really touched by the fact he knew about me and he praised me for my role in Chini Kum. I've always aspired to work with him and I hope this day comes soon."
Also in for special praise from Shah Rukh were Amir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh. While he was impressed by their performance, SRK complimented Amir for his beautiful eyes.
Post the performance of the jodis, there was a special surprise in store for Shah Rukh.
Far from the island of Indonesia, Wovan and Kinar, (winners of a similar show in Indonesia) danced to the Indian track 'Mehndi laga ke rakhna 'from SRK's film Dilwale Dulhnaiya Le Jayenge. The Indonesian couple also brought a gift for Shah Rukh. Despite the language barrier, they revealed that how Shah Rukh and other Bollywood stars are a huge hit in Indonesia. An overtly excited Wovan even fell to the ground after shaking hands with Shah Rukh.
Finally, one and all wanted SRK to show his six packs. However, the actor was in no mood to oblige. In fact, he side-stepped this request by saying that people no longer talk about his acting but merely wanted to see his stomach.
While one didn't get to see his abs, Shah Rukh danced with Nach Baliye contestants to the title track of Om Shanti Om. It was a day for celebration, thus nobody left disappointed. Shah Rukh announced that no jodi would be eliminated today. In fact, another jodi will come in via wild card. He left his mark on the car that will be presented to the eventual winners.
He's the king of the box-office and on this special episode of Nach Baliye, it was Shah Rukh who ruled the roost.
