Supriya Shukla to play mother to the female protagonists in Ekta's new show on Zee TV, 'Kumkum Bhagya'

The talented performer Supriya Shukla will get back to working with the Czarina of television, Ekta Kapoor with her upcoming show on Zee TV, titled Kumkum Bhagya.

As we know, Kumkum Bhagya will revolve around the women-centric family wherein the mother will struggle to meet both ends to raise her two daughters. This pivotal role of the mother to the female protagonists will be played by Supriya Shukla.

The entertaining actress was earlier part of Balaji Telefilms’ Tere Liyewherein she played the role of Laboni Banerjee. She has earlier done challenging roles in Rakhi, Hindi Hai Hum, Dharampatni, and is presently seen essaying the role of Ramleela in Colors’ Sanskaar – Dharohar Apnon Ki.

When contacted, Supriya told Tellychakkar.com, “Yes, talks are on for this important character. I completely trust Ekta as she knows my plus points as an actor. And I very well know that if she has offered me a role, there will be quite a lot of meat in it. As of now, I only know that this will be a very strong character and I hope everything falls in place. It will be exciting to work with Ekta again after Tere Liye. I am keeping my fingers crossed on this show. But as of now, nothing is confirmed.”

Tellychakkar.com had earlier reported about Shabbir Ahluwalia returning to small screen with the lead role in this show. Sriti Jha, who was last seen in Balika Vadhu, has already bagged one of the lead girl’s role. The hunt for the actress to play the younger sister is on.

Kumkum Bhagya will take Pavitra Rishta’s 9pm time slot on Zee TV. Pavitra Rishta (also a Balaji product) will be shifted to an early evening slot.
