MUMBAI: Mere Dad Ki Dulhan starring Shweta Tiwari and Varun Badola became a household name with its stellar performance since its inception in November last year. The show is wrapping up next month on the 19th. While most daily soaps often run indefinitely, resulting in the story being dragged unnecessarily, the cast of this show is happy that ‘MDKD’ was a finite show, which enabled the actors to work on their characters in a rather pragmatic manner.
Shweta, who plays the role of Guneet Sikka in the show, shares, “As a character, Guneet will always stay close to my heart. I am glad that the audience has been so appreciative of the show. The best part about working in a finite show is that one knows the story arch and can work on the character accordingly, with no surprises.”
Over the years, the actress has been a part of several path-breaking shows and ‘Mere Dad Ki Dulhan’ was no exception. The slice-of-life story revolves around two individuals, who find love late in life. She adds, “‘Mere Dad Ki Dulhan’ has been a great journey for me both personally and professionally. I look forward to being a part of such path-breaking concepts going forward as well.”
‘Mere Dad Ki Dulhan’ will be replaced by ‘Story 9 Months Ki’ featuring Sukirti Kandpal and Aashay Mishra as the lead couple. It will chart the accidental love story of the urbane Alia (Sukirti) and desi Sarang (Aashay), bound together by the unexpected miracle of IVF.
