The day when my dream came true

My craving only increased when I did my first film, Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat Hai in 2002. Unfortunately, the film did not do well at the box office. My second film Pappu Pass Ho Gaya also flopped big time. Though it gave me the opportunity to meet and work with my love Kashmira Shah. Since I wanted to work with David ji and none of my films did well, I became even more focussed on finding a way to work with him.

Luckily the opportunity came in the form of a television show. Since I did not get a toehold in the film industry, I wanted to try my luck in the television industry and chose the reality show Nach Baliye as my launch vehicle in the small screen. To my delight, David Dhawan was a judge of the show and co-incidentally, it was his first show on television as well.

I will never forget the way he treated me on the show. After our (Kashmira and Krushna) first performance, David ji came up on stage and hugged us. He was so happy. In fact, after the show he told me that to know whether a bowl of rice is cooked or not, you need to see just one grain. And he remembered this proverb after seeing my first performance. In his own words, 'I always knew you were very talented. Today you proved that. I would like to work with you some day.'

I was floored. Here I was dreaming of working with a director like him, and there he was telling me that he would like to work with me!

The next few years went by and I spent my time doing more shows on television like Kabhi Pyaar Kabhi Kabhi Yaar Kabhi, Comedy Circus, Chinchpokli to China, etc. There were no calls from David ji and I also thought he would have forgotten it. While doing these shows, I discovered that I had a good sense of comic timing! These reality shows helped me become financially stable and also to give me a bit of fame and showcase my talent.

Finally my dream came true when he offered me a role in the film Hook Ya Crook. I have shared screen space with people like John Abraham, Shreyas Talpade and K K Menon. I play the role of a gay person called Madhur. He is an inmate of a jail and a very stylish and rich person. More than half of the dialogues I have spoken are in English.

The film has been mostly shot in a huge set covering 3 km in Ramoji Film City. The jail created there is a modern day prison with all sorts of electronic surveillance equipment. I am confident that this film will be a milestone in my career.

After working in this film, I was very impressed with John Abraham. The way be works, his humility is amazing. I have no qualms in admitting that a number of television actors go on the sets with a lot of attitude. But I have never seen that in John. His only objective is to find ways to improve himself.

I am waiting eagerly for this film to be released. I am also on the verge of signing another big project. But I will never quit television since this is the platform which gave me all the fame and recognition
