Any opportunity bagged is a good opportunity!! Hence, when Ketki J got a call from Colors’ Sanskaar Dharohar Apnon Ki 2 (Anahita/ Cinemantra Productions), she grabbed it with both hands. The actress recently stepped into Neha Saroopa’s shoes as Avni but she does not look at this role as a replacement. “Neha was part of Sanskaar Season 1 wherein she played the usual sister and never got back in Sanskaar 2. However, I will be playing an Avni on whom the entire track is going to revolve around at the moment. Moreover, there is too much competition around for me to have rejected this meaty role. I had been doing episodic roles for two years as shows that I signed never took off. Thus, when I got an on-going show in Sanskaar I grabbed it,” confessed the actress. On essaying a Gujarati character once again she averred, “It’s an irony as I am a Maharastrian in real life. But I think it’s just a coincidence that I keep getting Gujarati roles, be it Sukh By Chance, Jasuben Jayantilaal Joshi Ki Joint Family or Hamari Saas Leela, I’ve played a Gujarati girl in all of them.” On her character of Avni, the actress stated, “She is a married girl who wants some love and respect from her husband but he fails to give her the same. In fact, he does not even back out from insulting her publicly. So you’ll see me as a dukhiyari girl, basically a meek bahu.” Interestingly, Jay Soni and Ketki have played lovers earlier. “There was a show called Remote Control on 9X and I played his girlfriend there. Basically, we’ve known each other for a very long time, and that’s why I did not feel like a newcomer on the sets of Sanskaar,” confessed the actor. The artist is also fond of her mother tongue Marathi and prefers talking to Maharashtrians in Marathi as she told us, “I talk to Maharashtrians in Marathi and to the rest in Hindi and English.” After all the fun talk we reminded her that Sanskaar is hanging by a thin rope when it comes to its ratings to which she said, “I’ve been a part of a show at the same slot (7pm) when I was doing Hamarai Saas Leela and I know that this slot does not work for Colors. Maybe it’s because of competition coming from Saath Nibhana Saathiya; but all said and done, it hasn’t been a wonder slot. We had Havan, Kairi and Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal on the same slot, and none of them did well. So, I am just hoping that the entire drama helps us up the numbers.” Now that’s one frank interview!
