MUMBAI: Congress may turn to TV screen’s original ‘Ram’, actor Arun Govil, to take on Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Majahan in her eight-term bastion of Indore in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Sources close to chief minister Kamal Nath’s office told TOI that Arun Govilis one of the names being discussed for the Indore seat, adding that the actor has always been close to Congress party.
On returning to power in Madhya Pradesh after a 15-year exile, Congress is targeting 20-plus seats and hopes to use the assembly poll momentum to oust BJP in its bastions. Bhopal and Indore are two such constituencies considered as BJP’s impregnable fortresses. Congress hasn’t won here in 30 years.

A section of Congress feels Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’ TV series of the Eighties, could be the game changer in Indore.
