Dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, on Colors, has been gaining rave reviews from the television industry and fans alike. The series looks chic and polished and with each passing episode, performances are getting bigger and better. The production values are also of a very high standard matching those set by its international cousin - Dancing with the Stars. And with a top notch jury consisting of heartthrob of millions Madhuri Dixit, director and host par excellence Karan Johar, and choreographer-dancer Remo, the show is like no other aired in India. It is no surprise therefore that Jhalak has many actors clamoring to be a part of it whether as celebrity guests or participants. Comments choreographer- turned- actor Kushal Punjabi, “This is one show I would love to take part in. The format of having trained dancers teaching Salsa and Jazz to celebrities and actors is interesting. Kudos to the channel and the production house (BBC Worldwide) for bringing together a very interesting bunch of contestants.” He continues, “Gurmeet Choudhary is coming off as one helluva dancer. Even the other TV actors, namely Giaa Maanek is very good. The inclusion of last year’s ‘crorepati’ Sushil Kumar adds to the fun. Being a choreographer myself, I feel very happy that talented youngsters (Sanam, Shampa and Savio) are getting a chance to show off their skills. Though many of them may not be doing big ticket films, they are very busy dancing elsewhere- choreographing wedding events and earning big money.” Nausheen Ali Sardar feels, “I love the team of judges. Remo D’Souza judges the technical side of dancing, second, beautiful and graceful Madhuri Dixit is elegant and last but not the least, Karan Johar speaks about creativity. Host Manish Paul is doing a fabulous job with his humour and Bharti Singh is a true sport.” Nausheed adds, “However-how much ever I love Darsheel (Darsheel Safary), I feel he is a kid! And it’s not fair to let a kid compete with grown-ups as it’s not fair for trained dancers to compete with untrained ones. But then, all’s okay in the world of showbiz. The show is entertaining and colorful. Isha Sharvani is an awesome dancer and a sure shot winner.” Angad Hasija simply can’t stop praising the show, “Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa is a superb show. Madhuri Dixit and Karan Johar are the perfect judges. Salman Yusuff Khan and Isha’s pairing is superb and most entertaining. Bharti also looks perfect in her performances. I love to watch the show. I hope to be a participant next year. The channel has presented Jhalak very nicely. Wherever I go, I hear, it has huge audiences.” Adds Prerna Wanvari (who plays Ravina Chopra in Parichay and is a fabulous dancer herself): “I have watched the show over the years, but this year's offering surpasses what has been done in the past by far. I would have loved to be one of the contestants and would not even mind going on Jhalak as a guest if it was possible, because to be judged by Madhuri, Karan and Remo would be great. Probably next year, might prove more fortunate for me and I might be selected to participate. Until then I wish all my colleagues who are participants on Jhalak the best.” Furthermore, Isha and Salman seem to be the favourite of whoever we spoke to and Muskaan Mehani’s opinion was no different. Comments the actress, “I have not been able to follow most episodes but find the concept really interesting. I would love to take part and learn from these talented dancers. Madhuri looks really beautiful as well.” Observes well-known singer Shibani Kashyap, “This weekend show rocks and many know that I can dance as well. So if I do participate, people will get to see a different facet of me. Further, I will not only get a chance to learn different styles of dances but pick up pointers about how to emote in a short period of time. And the biggest honour would be to get a chance to shake a leg in front of these very talented three judges.” We are sure that even viewers are echoing those sentiments.
