Colors’ new singing reality show, The Rising Star has already packed a punch, with its first promo showing up on our TV screens.

As we can understand by the promo, the show will have contestants singing by facing a huge wall, behind which there would be a huge audience hearing the contestant. While the contestant will not be able to see the audience, the audience will hear the contestant and will start voting based on the likeability factor. And if the percentage of votes got by the contestant is huge, the wall will give way and the contestant will face the audience, which will confirm his/her selection.

While we can see the presence of musical maestro Shankar Mahadevan in the promo, we hear of him being one of the judges on the show.

News coming in is that television presenter turned singer, Diljit Dosanjh who is a popular face in Punjabi and Bollywood music industry is in talks to take up the second position of judge on the show.

As per a credible source, “Diljit will in all likelihood be part of The Rising Star as part of the judges’ panel.”

Diljit as we know, is popular for his evergreen Hindi numbers in Udta Punjab and Singh is Bling.

Also, we hear that Optimystix, who presently has the successful show Comedy Nights Bachao and Comedy Nights Live on Colors, will be producing the singing reality Rising Star for Colors.

We tried buzzing Producer Vipul Shah and the channel spokesperson for a comment, but did not get any revert till the time of filing the story.
