In an era where television has evolved as a strong medium where the viewers are catered to a variety of programming, courtesy the various channels on offer, Shashi-Sumeet Productions’ Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus has managed to sustain the numero uno position for more than two years now. Quite an achievement, must say. The entire unit of Diya Aur Baati Hum recently took time off to celebrate when they achieved the TVT of 6.4 (as per last week’s ratings). This is not their highest, as they have earlier crossed the 7 mark. However, after surpassing the recent stiff competition coming from many shows, especially Bigg Boss, the unit saw this upswing in ratings as reason enough to celebrate. A source from the set told us that since the show is now working on two units, one at Mumbai and one at Karnal, the celebration happened differently at both the places. While the unit at Karnal chose to celebrate the moment by expressing their happiness on social networking sites, the unit in Mumbai decided to get into a lighter mood while rejoicing. Kanica Maheshwari, who essays the role of Meenakshi Rathi, and the macho-man with the six pack abs Gautam Gulati (Vikram Rathi) were the ones who came up with the innovative idea. Kanica actually inked the TVT on Gautam’s chest, and the unit members started clicking pictures in style. Also, they cut a cake celebrating the moment. When contacted, Gautam told us, “Yes, since I have six pack abs, I wanted to use it intelligently (smiles). I inked the TVT on my body and everyone had fun enjoying the moment.” Kanica who actually inked the name of the show and the TVT on Gautam’s body said, “Yes, the unit in Karnal celebrated in their style. And we decided to use this way to express our happiness. I was the one who wrote the TVT on Gautam’s chest. I even sent the pictures that we clicked to our producers.
