We are to be blamed for treating these self-styled people as Godmen - Abbas Khan

Abbas Khan
The current scenario of self-proclaimed Godmen and their crimes is a topic that SAB TV’s popular show Lapataganj is dealing with. Here is film and TV actor Abbas Khan who essays the lead role in the show, expressing his views on the issue as a common man. “Firstly, it is people like us who treat all these self-styled people as God. So if there is someone to be blamed, it is me, you, in fact all of us. As of today, people are very insecure and everyone is up to filling in their own pockets in whichever way they can and increase their bank balance. Also, there is no trust left in people,” Abbas avers. It is another matter that people are religious, but to relate to someone as God so that you can put your belief on someone is something that needs to be pondered upon, believes the actor. The actor informs that today 75 to 80% people work for money without knowing where they are going to use the same. “In fact even in our industry, people work day and night to earn money, but what is the use of earning so much when you are not getting the time to spend or use it somewhere valuably,” Abbas adds. But what about other crimes taking place in our country? “Rape and murder has become a part of our lives and may be a teacher raping a student or a student gunning down a teacher may not be solely for the cause of money but because of effects of reality based fiction shows on television,” the actor answers. So is it that these shows influence people to resort to crime? “It is not that the shows do so, but it is because of the situation created around us that makes us take aggressive steps. And since we see these shows, we ideate through them,” he maintains. Abbas claims that everything is happening because of money which is not a necessity anymore but a source of greed. Well said, Abbas!!!
