Khushboo Kamal, who plays Pinki in Sahara One’s Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage, is aghast at the current anti-woman environment prevailing in the country. As part of her bit, she is doing a five minute untitled short film, directed by Sushila Bhatia, based on women abuse and rape. “Our film will make the rounds of various internationals festivals viz Berlin and Dubai. Through it, we wish to talk about woman’s rights and awareness in the society. We also wish to impress upon the government to take urgent steps to protect every woman in all parts of the country. If the national capital is unsafe for women, what can we say about far flung areas?” she asks indignantly. “We have to take action and stop this shame and teach those bast*** how to respect a woman who gave them birth,” she adds. The actress, who had earlier debuted with a small role in Dabangg says, “Films by Salman bhai (Khan) should carry a social message about protecting a woman’s honor because since his films are patronized by large amount of people, they will help in spreading the message fast.” “I believe that education is the root cause of all societal problems in India. There is an urgent need to conduct educational camps for both men and women. We should not feel ashamed to talk about sex and sexuality, for this is the medium that helps people grow up mentally,” says this girl who had alleged misrepresentation of facts in Colors’ Zindagi Ki Haqeeqat Se Aamna Saamna! Khusboo is also is furious at the fact that rapists are not given a death penalty. “One of the accused in the Jyoti Singh Pandey rape case in Delhi escaped the noose for he was under aged. You are not bothered about the human rights of the victims but are concerned about the accused who do the most inhuman deeds like inserting foreign particles in a five old girl’s body. We need to emulate the Gulf countries and pronounce very strict punishment to rapists which will deter others,” she observes. Before winding up, the actress who was also a part of Zilla Ghaziabad avers, “I appeal to all urban and educated women that it is time to give up your cocooned life and join the fight for our projection for what yesterday happened to Jyoti can happen to you, your sister or daughter today as well. So, rise India’s fair sex, take cudgels in your hands and help protect the women on the streets.”
