MUMBAI: Priya Malik, the opinionated girl from Bigg Boss 9, recently announced her engagement to Karan Bakshi. However, the two had exchanged rings a year ago and had kept under wraps. But now, Priya has finally revealed the reason why she kept her engagement and her relationship a secret.

"This is going to be my second marriage. And I had not announced my divorce publicly. So I was being really private about our relationship. And since our relationship has finally been accepted, we decided to make it public," Priya Malik told a media portal.

Priya and Karan dated for a year prior to their engagement and are living in together in Mumbai.

Revealing the details about their engagement, Priya said, "It was a very intimate setting. We had like 25 people only because both Karan and I are private and low-key people. We both wanted it that way."

She said that the wedding is most likely to be around Diwali next year. It will mainly be an intimate affair in the presence of their family members.

So what went wrong in her first marriage to Bhushan Malik? The two were married for almost a decade and divorced legally in 2018 in Australia. It was a love marriage.

"Nothing went wrong to be honest. It was just a mutual decision. And that's something I always talk about how we should normalize divorce. It doesn't have to be ke kuch hua. There was no domestic violence, no adultery, none of those things happened. It was just two people fell out of love because we both took different paths in life. And he was an amazing guy, still is. I am happy that it happened on friendly, agreeable and respectable terms with him," Priya said.
