MUMBAI : ‘The Freelancer’ starring Mohit Raina, Kashmira Pardeshi and Anupam Kher is about an extraction mission where a girl is held captive in the war-torn hostile environment of Syria, and her escape from the world of death.

It also stars Sushant Singh, John Kokken, Gauri Balaji and Navneet Malik, Manjiri Faddnis, and Sarah Jane Dias amongst others.

The series is based on the book – ‘A Ticket to Syria’ by Shirish Thorat. It is directed by Bhav Dhulia, produced by Friday Storytellers and Neeraj Pandey is the creator and showrunner. The book attempts to share the story about the insidious operations of the Islamic State, and how the terror group has perfected a cross-country operation that converts thousands to a depraved cause.

While season 1 of the series was left on a cliff-hanger, now, the series is coming back with the second season, The Freelancer – The Conclusion. The series is going to show how Avinash will finally go for an extraction mission and save Aleeya from danger.

Now, in an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, John Kokken talked about his desired character and desired actor and much more.

What are your desired characters?

I won’t say characters, but there’s comedy in Rohit Shetty’s films. I would love to do comedy someday. Or I would love to play a villain but a gay villain, not a macho one. There are many characters I would like to play, I don’t want to box myself. As an actor I want to do as many different variations, as many different crazy characters I can. The list is endless.

Who your desired actors and directors?

The list is endless but I’ll say Zoya Akhtar, Sanjay Gupta, Reema Kagti, Farhan Akhtar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Rohit Shetty, I would love to work with all of them. I’ve been brought up in Mumbai, studied in Mumbai, so Bollywood is in my blood. So the day I have started acting in movies, I’ve always dreamt of making it to Bollywood as well. I would love to act with Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Deepika Padukone, Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani, so many.

What is the difference you observed in Hindi and South?

Quite a bit of a difference. I south, I used to get my lines before 30mins of the shot. When I was working with Neeraj sir, I used to get my line almost a week ago in advance. So I had more than enough time for me to plan. There’s less chaos on the sets compared to South industry. So I’ll say Bollywood has a more systematic way of working. In terms of filmmaking, South is very loud and over the top. Bollywood is more realistic and more subtle. There is more emphasis on the performance, so it’s a complete different atmosphere.

What are your upcoming projects?

Other than this, I have a movie coming up with Dhanush that is Captain Miller. I think it’’s releasing on the date of Pongal.
