MUMBAI: Shanthipriya has worked predominantly in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films. She is the younger sister of actress Bhanupriya. Shanthipriya acted in several films, including Enga Ooru Pattukaran (1988). She was also seen in Aryamaan – Brahmaand Ka Yodha opposite Mukesh Khanna in 2002. She made her debut with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Saugandh. She has acted with Mithun Chakraborty in movies such as Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana, Phool Aur Angaar, and Meherbaan.

She will soon make her comeback in a film on activist, feminist, poet, and the first Indian woman to be president of the Indian National Congress and to be appointed as an Indian state governor, Sarojini Naidu.

Titled 'Sarojini Naidu- The Unsung Freedom Fighter', the film will be a biopic. Shantipriya will play Sarojini Naidu in this project, which will be made in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil. Presented by Visica Films, the film will be produced by Charan Suvarna and Honey Chaudhary and co-produced by Hemant Gowda. Directed by South director Vinay Chandra, the biopic will also star Sonal Monteiro, Hiten Tejwani, and Zarina Wahab.

Shantipriya was last seen on the big screen in 'Ikke Pe Ikka' in 1994 and on TV in 'Dwarkadheesh' as Devaki in 2012.

Shantipriya says, "It gives me immense joy to have gotten the opportunity to play the character of such a strong woman who played a big part in building this country, break barriers and challenge cultural thinking, so I will do everything possible to do justice to the lady that Indian history so proudly calls ‘The Nightingale Of India’.

Buoyant about her comeback, she added, "I can’t wait to show you guys what I still bring as an actor to such important roles and can tap into a side that’s needed to portray such intense characters."

An active social media user, Shantipriya often shares photos and videos sharing updates about her life with her fans. Her Instagram timeline also features a few pictures with her sons, Shubham and Shishya.

Before the controversial reality show 'Bigg Boss 14' went on air, there was buzz that Shantipriya would appear in it. However, that turned out to be untrue.
