John Abraham doesn't support the ban on India's daughter

John Abraham

Shunning diplomacy out of the window, John Abraham yesterday spoke openly about the evils of ruthless censorship that India is currently witnessing. Supporting freedom of speech and it's usage by artistes, John extended his support to the documentary made on Nirbhaya titled India's daughter. The documentary which has been banned by Indian government has already attracted attention worldwide with many B-town celebs vociferously protesting the ban. The documentary was even premiered at a star-studded affair in New York a couple of days back where representing the Indian contingent were Frieda Pinto and Farhan Akhtar.

John too expressed his outrage at the ban. Said John, "I  saw India's Daughter not once but twice. Not only should that documentary be shown to everyone but it should be shown in as many languages as possible across the country to make people aware of the mentality of the people in the country and what can be done. Banning it means we are ashamed of the mistakes we are making. I think it is important to confront them and make sure it is out there in the open. It is a very important issue."

While expressing his respect for censorship and need to censor, John raised his concern over blanket bans being imposed on films. "I think a country that can ban ‘India's Daughter’ can ban anything right now. We need to release such films. I understand that there is a value of censorship that we need to adhere by. I respect that as India is a country with cultural values but you can’t ban it. You can't stop calling Bombay 'Bombay'. I mean they are being plain stupid," argued a passionate John.

Well said John, we say.
