Hollywood Updates

MUMBAI: Here we bring exciting updates from Hollywood industry to keep you amused. Read on.

'Lego Movie' makes Elizabeth Banks nostalgic

Actress Elizabeth Banks says Lego Movie reminds her of her childhood, and brings out her creativity.

"I know I have a connection to Lego. It reminds me of my childhood, makes me nostalgic. It brings out creativity. It’s something you do with other people," Banks said in a statement to leading publication.

The actress will be back in the 'Lego' universe as Lucy with The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, which will release in India on 8 February. Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing the film to India.

She added, "It represents your quiet time and who you are on the inside but also what you want to show the world. It's about something that's super relatable.

"In a way like the first movie was about that father son relationship, your relationship with play, structure, rules, this movie is about human connection, understanding, empathy and all those things that we need to be closer to other people. And that's what I love about it."

A standalone adventure, the film builds on the existing narrative from the original The Lego Movie. The film reunites the eclectic gang of Lego, the heroes of Bricksburg, to save their city.

Adam Levine responds to backlash over Superbowl gig

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has responded to the negative criticism over his bands Super Bowl half-time performance, thanking his critics for pushing them to do better.

Viewers weren't impressed by the underwhelming show put on by the pop rock band on Sunday, and took issue with it being "too long" and also "boring".

Levine opened up about his performance with a post on Sunday night on Instagram, which he shared along with an image of the One Love light display that featured during their show, reports leading publication.

"When we accepted the responsibility to perform at the SBHTS, I took out my pen and just wrote," Levine wrote.

"Some of the words that came to me in that moment eventually made their way onto the incredible lanterns that flew high and low tonight. We thank the universe for this historic opportunity to play on the world's biggest stage. We thank our fans for making our dreams possible. And we thank our critics for always pushing us to do better. One Love."

The words that followed were: forgive, laugh, cry, smile, share, live, endure, embrace, remember, enlighten, preserve, inspire, sweat, fight, express, give, receive, elevate, climb, unify, fortify, soften, dance, scream, dream, educate, provide, inhale, exhale, persevere, stand, knee, overcome, love and listen.

Lily James wants to shed her Cinderella image

Actress Lily James loved the experience of portraying Cinderella in the live action version of the Disney film, but now wants to shed that image.

In an interview to Harper's Bazaar UK issue, the actress said that she wants to shed the image of herself as a 'blonde, sweet thing', because it is 'so not her', reports leading publication.

She admitted that she is "actively seeking" different characters as she looks forward to turning 30 in April.

James said, "Cinderella was a gift, and I will treasure it for the rest of my life. But I wore a dress for the Mamma Mia! premiere that was blue and white, and when I got out on the red carpet, all anyone said was 'Oh it's Cinderella!'

"It's a happy association, but also something that you want to shed at some point… The blonde, sweet thing is so not me. I'm actively seeking characters from now on that are different, who don't rely on charm or the qualities that I think I've explored quite a lot."

The actress has enchanted viewers with her performances in Cinderella, Downton Abbey, Baby Driver and Mamma Mia!.

James, who is in a relationship with Matt Smith since 2014, also opened up about turning 30 later this year.

She said, "It is a real turning point. My twenties have been so chaotic, and I've always looked forward to 30 as being an anchor point. You stop caring so much about what other people think, and become more secure in your own life."

Demi Lovato goes off Twitter

Singer Demi Lovato deactivated her Twitter account following backlash over her tweets on Grammy-nominated rapper 21 Savage.

The rapper, whose real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is in custody and at risk of being deported after authorities claimed he is a UK national who has been living in the US illegally.

Lovato wrote on Twitter on Sunday: "So far 21 Savage memes have been my favourite part of the Super Bowl."

People immediately began calling her out, including rapper Offset, who sort of seemed to subtweet her with the post: "All the memes and s**t ain't funny when somebody going through some," reports leading publication.

The 26-year-old singer tried defending and clarifying in later tweets but it wasn't enough to calm the situation.

"If you are going to come at me for making a joke, try coming at me with some original not involving drugs," Lovato wrote.

She then added: "F**k Twitter. This is why I don't tweet any more."

The singer also shared one of the memes circulating about 21 Savage, which showed a hand writing on paper with a quill by candlelight, alongside the caption: "This is how 21 Savage be writing his verses.

"FYI this is the s**t I'm laughing at... not the fact that anyone is getting deported," Lovato wrote.

Lovato then posted a note on Instagram too.

"This break couldn't last long enough," she wrote, while sharing screenshots of comments that referenced her history of drug issues.

The singer has been over six months sober following rehab treatment after being taken to hospital for an apparent drug overdose last year.

Vengaboys want to 'focus on old hits'

Eurodance band Vengaboys like to "focus on their old hits" rather than new songs.

In an interview to website MusicFeeds, the We're going to Ibiza hitmakers spoke about their music process and why they still like singing their old hit songs every time.

"Well, we go to the studio sometimes. Sometimes we don't; sometimes we do. We fool around and do some new stuff, but it never really gets to something that's perfect," Kim Sasabone said about the band that also consists of Denise Post-van Rijswijk, Robin Pors and Donny Latupeiris.

"So that's why we keep on focusing on those old hits because we noticed, after performing for all these years, like, since we've come back in 2006, we released a couple of songs, but people want to hear mainly our old songs. So the last couple of years, we are more focusing on that."

Kim also said that the band likes to represent LGBTQ community in their music, reports leading publication.

"We are very blessed to be performing on many different gay events. Actually, we just came back from a Mediterranean gay cruise, which was absolutely amazing, with RuPaul and (Ukrainian boyband) Kazaky, and that girl who won Eurovision, the Cyprus girl (Eleni Foureira), and the other singer who won like a couple of years ago (Austria's Conchita Wurst).

"So that was amazing. Yeah, we're very blessed to attend all kinds of different gay events - of course all the Prides around the world," she added.

In the 1990s, Vengaboys ushered in a new trend into the music world with flamboyant costumes, energetic beats and party numbers infused with animated videos. They are popular for songs like Boom boom boom and We like to party.
