Although PK is an Aamir Khan film, the superstar actor feels the film’s USP is not him but its director Raju Hirani. Now that’s a telling statement and only goes to show how much faith Aamir reposes in Raju who he feels is Bollywood’s number one director. “According to me the biggest USP of PK is Raju Hirani. He is the number one director in our film industry today. All of his films till date have been amazing. For me, Raju is the star of the film. His ability as a writer and director are the two important forces behind PK as well.” While speculations have been rife about Aamir playing an alien in the movie, the actor, on his part, refutes it. For the moment, the trailer has revealed has only made people indulge in the guessing game making it difficult to slot the film in a particular genre. Says Aamir, “The genre is very much Raju’s genre where he feels the need to say something important. His films are essentially drama but the vehicle he chooses each time is humour.” Aamir is also not concerned about comparisons that could be drawn with Raju’s last hit, 3 Idiots which crossed 200 crores. “Comparisons are always going to be made and it doesn’t bother Raju or me. Essentially as a creative person, Raju has something to tell and every time he makes a film only to tell that thing. I don’t think he is thinking of box-office numbers when he is writing the story. And that is the charm about Raju because he is always following his heart and numbers just keep coming. It is something that was essentially said in 3 Idiots. Don’t chase success. Chase excellence and success will follow.” Well, let’s wait and see if PK will outdo 3 Idiots in both numbers and critical acclaim.
