Trailer review: Salman Khan's dhaasu 'Kick'

Kick
Let's admit one thing at the very outset. No Salman Khan movie has ever looked this sleek, this stylish and might we also add this sexy, in recent times. The opening shot of the movie sets the tone right from the word 'go'. An aerial shot of a sea link bridge with vehicles plunging straight into the deep sea is a copy book shot straight out of some Hollywood flick. Stud Randeep Hooda makes his entry and reasons out the sole failure in his glittering career thus far- his inability at apprehending the 'Devil'. And no prizes for guessing who the Devil is this time -Salman Khan. Salman Khan makes a refreshing return post the drubbing of Jai Ho. Gone are his sloppy eyes and perpetually angry stare that he sported throughout Jai Ho. This Salman dons a mask ala Krrish and has a simple rally bicycle as his favourite mode of transport rather than a sleek sports bike. How cool! The Indian version for Robinhood has arrived on a bicycle. And if you need any further proof of the superhuman abilities of our masked devil cum hero, jump on 0.42 on the YouTube scroll bar where Salman can be seen crossing a railway track on his cycle. Just when a locomotive is steaming in full force, Sallu bhai flicks away his cycle and nonchalantly crosses the track with the train missing him only by micro seconds. The logic behind the scene is zilch but such is the impact of our machoman's walk that one can't help but whistle when the scene unfolds. As for Salman, the new devil avatar with the neatly trimmed french beard looks classy and acts as a welcome change. A telling comment was passed by a female member in the audience yesterday at Gaiety."Lord Almighty would be damned if Devil starts looking this handsome." We agree. Kick scores highly on the VFX front. The stunts and the exploding vehicles truly look spectacular. The settings are quite reminiscent of Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 and comparisons have already started flowing in. Let's not forget the romance. Though Jacqueline Fernandes looks like million bucks, we are not too sure if Sallu bhai and Jacqui babe will share a sizzling chemistry. After all, Salman's onscreen pairing with Non-Indian beauties have never really set the screen ablaze. Another intriguing actor happens to be the very talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The trailer reveals way to less to speculate what Nawaz is doing in the film but from the looks of the trailer, it does feel he is in for a long haul with a different kind of a role. Kick really gives you the kick as far the trailer goes. But then will the movie live up to it trailer's expectations? Come this Eid and we will know.
