Witness in Salman Khan's hit-and-run case claims receiving threats

Salman Khan
Muslim Shaikh, one of the three witnesses who identified Salman Khan in court yesterday claimed that he had received threat calls from an unidentified person. Muslim alleges that the caller asked Muslim to take Rs. 5 lakh and back off from the case. According to Muslim, on Sunday night an unidentified person called him on his cellphone and told him, 'take Rs. 5 lakh and flee.' Muslim disconnected the call but the unidentified man called again and reiterated his offer. Muslim once again disconnected the call following which the mystery caller rang up for the third time but Muslim didn't receive the call. The Bandra police recorded Muslim's statement and submitted it in Sessions court. Preliminary investigations reveal that the number belongs to a lawyer. Meanwhile, the court has asked the police to enquire into the matter and submit their report on the next day of hearing on 19 May (2014). It remains to be seen if the mystery caller would be traced and brought to book.
