Two singing reality shows will soon hit Indian television. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee and X factor on Sony. X factor which is the Indian format of an international singing series has Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal and Sanjay Leela Bhansali as the judges. Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs has Adnan Sami, Kailash Kher and Javed Ali as the gurus and Alka Yagnik as the Maha guru. Since they are both singing reality shows comparisons between the two will happen though they have different formats. And one such parallel has already cropped up just days before the shows go on air. Almost everyone who has seen promos of Sa Re Ga Ma have found a striking resemblance in Javed Ali’s look to that of Sony Nigam on the Sony show. Javed’s attire and mannerisms on the show are almost ‘same to same’ as that of Sonu Nigam. It is the first time that Javed is judging a show on television so everybody from the channel to the production house is making sure he looks glamorous and very stylish. But in their enthusiasm to do this he has ended up looking like the diva himself-Sonu Nigam. We quizzed Javed about this strange co-incidence and he agreed, “A few people have told me this and now I will have to work on this. Until now I dressed the way I do in real life. Moreover I am here to judge singers and my look on the show is not that important.” We like this honesty. Good beginning!
