Ranveer Singh walked into the hearts of millions with his dishoom portrayal of Bittoo Sharma in last year’s hit movie Band Baaja Baarat. He is certainly the new kid on the block when it comes to Hindi film heartthrobs. The actor is now all set to spread his brawny air on the sets of Simi Selects India’s Most Desirable. When Simi asked Ranveer about his successful run he said, “It’s amazing. I have absolutely no time to pause and take a look at the amazing things happening around me. Everything’s just happening so fast.” The actor also went on to narrate an anecdote from his life. “I will tell you a funny story. On my 23rd birthday my sister instead of putting candles on my cake had pasted some small pictures. She had morphed my face and put it on a poster of Yashraj Film’s Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge wherein Shahrukh sir’s face was removed and my face was pasted. I think my sister read this book called The Secret and learned about the power of positive thinking. So I took those pictures off the cake and I pinned them up in my room, and lo and behold it came true. All credit goes to my sister.” Ranveer went nostalgic while recalling his college days in America. “It’s funny because I actually started out studying telecommunications. But in my second year I finally decided that I want to be an actor in mainstream Hindi cinema.” And the dashing actor poured his heart out when asked if he got exposed to the underbelly of the film industry. “Yes I was. I will tell you about this one incident. He was a small time casting agent and he met me in this seedy part of the suburbs and I went into his room and he just proceeded to propose me in his sleazy old way. He saw my pictures and said very nice. He went on to say okay darling, tell me are you a smart worker or a hard worker. When I said I am a hard worker he said darling be smart and be sexy. Jo smart hai, jo sexy hai woh aage nikal jaata hai. And then he said kal main tumhe yeh office mein bhejunga, kal mein tumhe who office mein bhejunga. Tumhe kaam mil jayega. Char paanch din baad shaam ko hum kahi drink pee rahe honge, aur phir tab main tujhe professionally trap kiya hoga, aur emotionally trap kiya hoga aur uss time tum khud mujhe bologe to touch.” Well, kudos to the actor for speaking courageously and choosing not to mince words!
