From a carpenter to a producer, Asif Shaikh's journey is worth a tale. Read to know about it here...
Asif Shaikh

Asif Shaikh, the co-producer of Ek Maa Jo Bani Lakho Ki Amma on Zee TV, has come a long way from his days of struggle to his current glorious phase where he’s commanding a team of talented artists. In a quick chat with Tellychakkar.com, Asif speaks about his life, career, and the interesting journey…take a look:

Tell us about your background and career journey…

The journey has been good so far. I started working as a carpenter and switched to being a production controller, followed it up with being an executive producer to a producer today. I have worked in the production of many films too…like Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Bangkok Blues, Main Meri Patni aur Woh and also a few ad films and TV production.

Share your experiencing of producing Amma…

Great! As Farhn P Zama is doing an amazing job. Be it working on the script, writing or conceptualizing, he is always excited and energetic. I am thankful to Zee TV and Subash Chandra-ji for giving us an opportunity. Also, the actors- Urvashi Sharma, Deep Raj Rana, Shashi Kiran Mehta, Nawab Shah, Shahwar Ali, Nasirr Khan- have been great sports. Our director Navneet is also doing a great job.

What is the response to the show like?

I have been getting many praises from non-industry people and also from great personalities. We have been receiving a good response as well, who give their views on Facebook and other social media platforms.

How easy or difficult was it to have a show based on the underworld?

This is the first show on underworld on television, even though many films have been made on the theme. But the making of such a show requires a lot of efforts from direction to acting. Every scene has to be rehearsed, choreographed and prepared before shooting the actual scene, unlike other daily soaps.

What made you choose Urvashi Sharma for the titular role?

For the show, we wanted a face that could be apt for showcasing all the time period from 1940s to the 90s and she fit the role perfectly. Also, the story is about a woman who struggles with life and who better than Urvashi to portray the role better?

Throw light on your association with Sunil Shetty....

I am his business manager. He is like a family member and a gem of a person.

What are your future plans?

I want to produce films now.
