MUMBAI: In his new film Blood for Dust, Kit Harington portrays a vicious murderer persona, going full villain. Following his 2019 season as HBO's Jon Snow, the actor was searching for roles of this kind. The actor recently admitted to an entertainment portal that he has grown tired of playing the hero in his films and is interested in taking on negative parts.

Harington said, “If I look at the roles I’ve taken since playing an out-and-out hero in ‘Game of Thrones,’ I have to admit there seems to be some sort of pushback about playing a hero. I’m not so interested in heroic roles, and if I am, they have to be pretty anti-hero-ish..”

The Game Of Thrones actor added, “My heart goes out to people playing heroes. They’re fucking hard to play and to make interesting. [Playing] a guy who is doing all the right things and is driven by being good, it’s harder to do that. And I think people who do it successfully, who play classically heroic roles, are very talented actors.” In the same interaction, Harington called the ‘faulty’ and ‘wrong’ characters more interesting and noted that it is harder to empathize with the negative roles.

The HBO spinoff for Game of Thrones has been canceled, the actor said earlier this month. Interestingly, Harington was getting ready to play Jon Snow again for the series that will revolve around the brave hero.

However it appears that the actor's dislike of heroes prevented him from reprising his role as one of the most beloved characters. Speaking about Harington's Blood for Dust, the movie is slated to release on April 19 in theaters and digitally.

Josh Lucas and Scoot McNairy will play the key parts in the movie. For those who are unaware, at the conclusion of Game of Thrones, actor Kit Harington's character, Jon Snow, was expelled from Westeros and set off on a new voyage with the Wildlings and his dire wolf Ghost, heading for the Haunted Forest.
