Why Big B's Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi is a delight to watch

Big B

Whenever Amitabh Bachchan makes a TV appearance, he knocks it out of the park with his sincerity and charm. That’s exactly what happened with Big B’s second small screen outing, Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi, on Star Plus.

The show, based on British series Tonight’s the Night, traces the extraordinary journey of an ordinary person. With the show’s grand debut last night, we tell you why it is a delight to watch…take a look:

Touching stories:

It might reek of Satyameva Jayate at first glance, but the premise is certainly different. The show kicked off with touching stories of common men and women who have gone out of their way to help the needy. What’s even more heartwarming is that these people have done the deeds without any expectations. Perhaps that’s what makes the show a must watch.

The entertainment tadka:

Even a reality show needs a bit of razzmatazz to make a global impact. With many celebs gracing the show last night (Read: Shilpa Shetty, Amruta Khanvilkar and Kapil Sharma), it made for an entertaining watch. We were shown our favorite celebs’ softer side, which hit all the right chords.

Amitabh Bachchan:

Well, do we really need to elaborate on this? He is the living legend we can’t get enough of, right? On the show, Bachchan Sr is sensitive, empathetic and expressive. He is so real, we wonder if any script was involved at all. Kudos to Bollywood’s Shehenshah for not bringing his star factor into the show and letting the commoners be the heroes of their stories.

Less drama, more impact:

Contrary to popular belief that only dramatic stories push the TRPs, Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi relies more on the stories themselves for impact than resorting to tricks and overly dramatic scenes. The stories are shown as they are without candy-flossing. In fact, the rawness in the series makes it more believable, relatable and inspirational.

Perfect weekend fodder:

Weekends were so far reserved for dance, drama and reality shows, but this Star Plus biggie is hatke and is a perfect fodder for our post-dinner cravings on Sundays. It will also inspire you to be selfless, gentle and kind to others. Isn’t that the best takeaway you can get from a show?
