I am blessed to have Vivian as my partner - Vahbiz Dorabjee

Vahbiz Dorabjee is truly a fun-loving person, and we came across this in our heart-to-heart conversation we had with the actress. Her level of understanding and her clear-cut goals for her future made us cheer for her.

A complete family girl, deeply in love with Vivian Dsena, is happy to be enjoying a balanced life, both personally and professionally.

Presently, Vahbiz is seen attracting viewers with her never-seen-before comic avatar in the popular Life OK show, Bahu HumariRajni_kant.

In conversation with the talented actress, we got to know of her career moves, her strong personal lifestyle and more on her happy married life with Vivian.

Excerpts:

You are back to the work ambiance. How does it feel?

Well, it feels awesome, and we have been celebrating the success of Bahu Humari Rajni_kant with every passing week. Recently, we secured a TRP of 1.5; this called in for a celebration. Of course, with this success, comes the bigger responsibility of working harder and we as a team are managing to do that.

How excited and content are you being part of the popular Life OK show?

I feel very blessed. The best part of Humari Bahu is that its hero is the script. With the story being fabulous, half the battle is won. Sonali Jaffer and Amir Jaffer are wonderfully talented people, very humble and sweet. It is real fun shooting for the show, especially with such a jolly good cast and crew. We all are like a house on fire on the sets. Above all, audiences have been appreciating the show. So it is the best platform for any actor to be in.

You were not the first choice for the role. Does this bother you?

Haha. So you know of it!! Well, that’s again been the best part. Honestly, I have never been bothered. In fact, the actress chosen earlier for the show, Divya Bhatnagar is a good friend, and we have laughed about it too. I see it this way. I was blessed with this role overnight, and I was destined to get it. And so it happened.

While it was a long wait for the other actors locked for the show, I had no wait whatsoever. I got finalized one fine night, and I had to report to shoot the very next day (laughs). I simply followed my instincts and it has paid off.

Tell us about your joyous journey being part of the show?

See, I have always been choosy about the projects I have taken up. If you have a look at my career graph, you will understand that all my roles have been very meaty, whether it be Pyaar Ki Yeh Ek Kahaani, Saraswatichandra. I follow my intuitions and it has worked. As for my character Maggi here, I look apt for the role is what I would say. Being a Punjabi girl works for me.

The show has immediately won all hearts. What do you think is its USP?

As I said before, the USP of the show is its concept. Nobody has attempted doing a sci-fi recently on TV. And the interesting aspect is the ‘desi thadka’ given Sonali and Amir to the concept. Accepted, the robot track is unique, but the Punjabi-Bengali nok-jhok and the different play out of the saas-bahu saga have also captured audiences. All the characters are tailor-made and the writing is simply magical. They have made sure that a good track exists for everyone in the show. And tell me, who does not want to see a show that makes you laugh? Another plus is that we have really good looking faces in it. Bahu Humari Rajni_kant will work as the stress remover for all after a hard day of work.

But the show has suddenly been plagued by reports of Karan V Grover, the lead guy opting out?

I do not think there is any truth to it. He has been shooting every day. Anyway, I do not want to comment on other people at all.

A big cast, are you not apprehensive of not being noticed?

I am pretty confident about myself and my work will speak for me. When I started with Pyaar Kii, that was also a big ensemble cast show. As I told you, I was signed overnight for Bahu Humari Rajni_kant. So that left me with no time to think of all that. Above all, my old friends Karan and few others were there in the show. So I had to give it a nod. In any case, such things have not bothered me. On the contrary, I have preferred to work in an ensemble cast show, as the stress is less on one person. With multiple tracks running, the work pressure is eased out for every actor. Also, I am a complete family person and will want to give equal time to my family too. With my confidence level being up, I know my skills and thankfully, have been appreciated by all.

How do you all gel in the cast?

The off-screen chemistry of all in the cast is superb. You would have got to see all our masti on Instagram and Twitter. Since we bond well off-screen, things work in our favour on the set too. We are so attached that we look for opportunities to meet up even when we are not shooting. Having a positive atmosphere at work is really good. Touchwood, it is tough to get such a fun-loving unit, and it is super work cum fun for all of us.

Your chemistry with the other girls has been really good. Explain.

Yes, while the other actors went through a workshop to get a good feel of their characters, I had no preparation whatsoever. But I am glad to be working with friends Tanvi Thakkar and others. Tanvi and my ‘hatred’ track has been appreciated by viewers. And I believe that since we know each other for 5 years, it has been easy for us to perform. Every girl on the set is sweet, whether it be Ridhima, Pallavi, Sweety, Neha Kaul. All are easy going and extremely talented.

Moving on to your personal life, how have you and Vivian worked out your lifestyle?

There’s simply been no private time. Vivian has been busy with Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Khatron Ke Khiladi post Madhubala. Yes, I used to be on the sets of Jhalak to cheer him up. And now that I have been busy, he keeps coming to my set to chill off and spend time. We try to find time for each other amidst our busy schedules, and this actually keeps the relation going. I feel every relationship needs to be balanced, and it is always better for both the partners to keep working. That tends to divert the mind to different things, and the partners will be off each other’s back.

So are you looking forward to Vivian’s fiction comeback with Colors’ Shakti?

Yes, I have my fingers crossed. I am waiting for the day. Of course, his fans have had a long wait as he has not taken up any fiction offer after Madhubala.

So how has marriage been? Is life blissful with Vivian?

Marriage has been beautiful. Being from the same industry, we understand each other well. We both are extremely chilled out, and believe in not cutting each others’ growth. We support each other a lot. And above all, we harbour no insecurity factor in us. I have always included Vivian in everything I do, and the same is with Vivian. He knows everyone that I work with. He is very friendly in nature, and this works for me. At the end of the day, understanding in the key to any relationship and I am blessed to have Vivian as my partner.

What are your goals for the future?

See, I will never want to work for all the 30 days in a month. I want a balanced approach to life, and I am a family girl. I cannot do without my family, and I will always prefer doing diverse characters, especially of the parallel leads. I have even done cameo roles, as I look at them as a challenge. In fact this is the first time I have got into the comedy genre. I am a very funny and mad girl in real life. And when I got this offer, my friends told me to just be myself for the role. I am a typical director’s actor. Also, I love to learn through my experiences.

All the best, Vahbiz!!
