How important is money for you? Money is not everything for me but it is quite important. We need money for every small necessity of ours. Are you an impulsive buyer? No, I am a careful buyer. I sometimes regret my purchases. These are the result of wrong choices and not impulsive buying. What are the investments you have made? Investment is my husband Karan’s department. We mostly invest in mutual funds and property. He asks for my opinion but he is the one who looks into the area of investments. What is your most expensive purchase? My house is the most expensive purchase I have made in my life. Do you feel financially secure? Feeling financially secure or insecure is just a state of mind. It also depends on your lifestyle and expectations. I feel financially secure as my husband is doing well. Mine is a field that is uncertain, so I can’t bank on my finance. I may be earning well now but what about the future. That is the reason why my husband insists on investments. Who handles your expenses? My husband and I jointly handle our expenses. For instance, my husband will never spend Rs.50, 000 on buying something without consulting me and vice versa. I feel that we are quite sensible compared to most of the people around us. What was your first salary? What you did with it? My first salary was Rs. 150 per day for the toy exhibition that I held along with my friend nearly twelve years ago. The exhibition was for five days. That money was too less to buy presents for anyone, so I spent it on junk shopping at a market in Delhi. How much money do you carry every day? I don’t have the habit of carrying much money. On an average, I carry Rs.1,500 but not more than that. It is unsafe to carry big amount of money when one is shooting. Do you invest in the stock market? No, I don’t invest in the stock market. I feel it is unsafe and more like gambling. In future, if my husband suggests me on investing in shares, then I might give it a thought. Any advice for investors? Think twice before doing anything in life. Investments are very important. Rather than spending money unnecessarily on shoes and clothes, save it for your future
