In 30 years of my career, I have never marketed myself: Ali Asgar

Ali Asgar
After watching tear jerking and high voltage drama on television, viewers long to watch something that could refresh their minds and bring smile on their faces. Occasionally, we come across stand-up comedy shows that people get glued to at whatever time they are beamed. And to regale the audience, we have stand up comedians who make people laugh. Ali Asgar is one of them. Ali is one of the finest and talented actors that we have in the television industry today. This veteran, who began his career with the TV show Ek Do Teen Chaar gained immense popularity with Balaji Telefilms’ Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki in which he played Kamal. He has also been a part of films where he spilled his comic magic. Currently, he is seen as Juju in SAB TV’s Jeannie Aur Juju and his performance is being raved about. Ali is on cloud nine on winning the Best Actor in a Comic Role Award at the Twelfth Indian Telly Awards. “I am very grateful to God and my father. I want to dedicate this award to them. It’s been four years now that my father is not with me. I think I truly deserve the recognition after being in the industry for 30 years now,” he avers. “As an actor I always wanted to do something different. Yes, until I am not satisfied with my role, how would I be able to convince my fans and viewers? I want to be remembered by the kind of work I do. I am not the person who would like to promote and market himself. In 30 years of my career, I have not made my portfolio because I don’t believe in showoff. I sternly believe that at the end of the day, my work should speak for me,” he adds. Lastly, in a humble tone Ali observes, “I would like to thank the jury of Indian Telly Awards for believing that I deserve this award. Here, I would thank SAB TV and everyone associated with the show for it being so popular with the masses.” Way to go Ali!! Watch Twelfth Indian Telly Awards on Colors on 25 May at 9pm.
