Audience like me more in comic roles - Delnaaz Irani

Delnaaz Irani
Watch Delnaaz Irani on a show and one can easily guess that she is the sugar amongst the ingredients of a spice box! Delnaaz has built a strong emotional connect with the Indian audience in supporting roles as the bubbly friend in the neighborhood. Now as she enters 24 Frames Productions’ upcoming Jamai Raja on Zee TV, Delnaaz gets into a candid conversation with Tellychakkar.com about her character and her choice of roles. The vivacious Delnaaz avers, “I have been in this industry from 21 years and have had my share of hosting, anchoring and playing the lead. I have no hiccups essaying roles which are repetitive as I am here only for the love of my audience. “ In Jamai Raja, the charming and enigmatic woman will essay the role of Resham Chachi, who is vibrant, positive, innocent, funny and irritating at the same time. She will play an aunt to the protagonist essayed by Nia Sharma. Apart from seeing her mainly in comic roles, we ask her the reason behind essaying the stereotypical chirpy, girl-next –door characters? Explains Delnaaz, “I have built a strong image of a comedian and I am very proud of this fact because very few women have been able to achieve that. I am an all rounder but if the audience wants to see me doing more comedy, why not? I do not want to bore my audience.” Continues Delnaaz, “When people see me on a show, they expect lighter moments. Sweetu in Kal Ho Na Ho was something we would see in the movies of the 80’s. For me, more than playing the lead, what matters is the respect an actor gets for a particular role. If one goes to note, the trend is followed in a lot of movies today.” Delnaaz, we wish you all the luck for Jamai Raja!!!
