A friend in need is a friend indeed- We all have heard the preaching as a child. And interestingly, TV folks till now have kept the teaching alive in their lives.

The television fraternity has always stood up together in difficult times. With the city of Chennai being struck with difficult times, popular celebs have once again showed their nobility in way of a relief fund.

Vikas Gupta (Programming head, Fiction, &TV) and Nivedita Basu (Balaji Telefilms) have formed a committee wherein they are planning out various relief operations to help the victims in the Chennai floods.

Shared a friend close to the duo, “Every one of us has been left in shock seeing the condition of the beautiful city. Wanting to reach out to them and assist them in every means we decided on this relief team.”

The group is currently planning on a wide range of events and other fund raising opportunities to gather as much resources as they can. A lot of actors and other industry folks have also joined hands to help the operation.

We called up Nivedita, who shared with us, “Yes, we have started a group and fortunately for us a lot of people have come together and contributing whole heartedly. Now we are just working towards a path by which we can share it with the victims. Few of us are giving our one day income; the others have shared in terms of monetary benefits others with time.”

“We also have a dedicated talent team that is looking after the artists as we plan to do some mall events, marathon, charitable pre-Christmas bash and more to raise more funds. Also we are planning to start an NGO account to do such kind of events throughout the year. We hope to get more participation from everyone to make this a success,” she further added.
