MUMBAI:   Tarun Khanna needs no introduction.

He has done an array of mythological roles in shows such as ‘Tenali Rama’, ‘Vignaharta Ganesha’, ‘Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki’ and ‘Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyaag Tandav’. Tarun shared, “The show has been grand and Swastik Productions has been like home to me. I have been associated with Siddharth for 15 years now and there was a little pressure for the show to work as shows in this genre are more expensive that other fictional dramas. I was a little skeptical to perform a negative character but the team convinced me. There are a lot of things I could have done but then that would have hampered the story telling of Shiva and Parvati.”

When asked about his thoughts on Ram Yashvardhan and Subha Rajput in central roles, Tarun mentioned, “I am surprised with Ram’s dedication and his passion towards his work and art. I might be senior to him but I have learnt a lot from him. Subah is not only beautiful but a good actor too.”

Talking about the kind of roles he wants to essay in future, Tarun said, “I am looking for more roles through which I get to explore my potential as an actor and break the mythological stereotype. I basically want people to see me in a new light. I am looking for more projects and I categorically want to say that I am not looking at roles where I get to play the heroine or hero’s father. I still can play the hero and I am looking at characters which are in the lead. I understand that casting directors are trying to make ends meet but I feel they should be more respectful as we have put in a lot of hard work to reach where we are. There are times when I am told that supporting characters are different and encouraged to take it up. But I feel they should also understand the potential and what we can offer as actors.”

Well said Tarun!
