Actress Garima Ajmani has charmed one and all with her challenging roles in shows like Jhansi Ki Rani and Apnon Ke Liye Geeta Ka Dharmyudh. Now, Garima is essaying the power-packed role of Shabnam in Zee TV’s Jamai Raja. However, not many are aware of this development, owing to her name change… Yes, Garima Ajmani is now called Shagun Ajmani. We hear that the actress changed her name more than a year back after being advised by a numerologist. Though close friends from the industry and the people in her social circle are aware of the name change, Shagun feels that it is necessary for the entire industry to know of it. Says Shagun, “Yes, I went through this name change one year back. But even now, I keep getting calls from industry people referring me with my old name. Hence, I found the need to talk about it in media.” The talented actress plays the negative step-sister of Roshni (Nia Sharma) in Jamai Raja, and her revenge track is presently in focus now. This happens to be Shagun’s comeback to TV after nearly two years, her last daily being Apnon Ke Liye Geeta Ka Dharmyudh. Talking further about the name change, Shagun states, “The change of name has indeed benefitted me in my work. I have more of a positive outlook towards life and work now.” Shagun who is even today known for her character of Moti Bai in Jhansi Ki Rani did not want to take up a mythological /historical show. “My characters in Jhansi Ki Rani and Jamai Raja are quite similar, as they both are Muslim characters. The dialect is also very much the same.” Moving ahead, Shagun will love to try something in the genre of comedy. “I have done many negative roles in my career. I feel it is the right time to make people laugh with a comic show. Though I am keen on taking up reality shows, I still need to fit into the groove of things and do more of the dailies. I will also like to take up a dance reality show. I have never danced in an award nite, and want to give it a try.” Folks, make note of this name change – Garima Ajmani is now called Shagun Ajmani… Here’s wishing her great success ahead!!
