After portraying various north Indian characters on television shows, actor Vishal Vashishtha says he now wishes to play a Bhojpuri or a Bihari character sometime in the future.

Vishal has played characters from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh in shows like "Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera" and "Gangaa". He is now gearing up for his forthcoming TV show "Jaat Ki Jugni", in which he essays the role of a Haryana-based man named Bittu.

"It's fun to play characters with different dialects as there you get to behave differently and get to learn about that specific region," Vishal, who hails from West Bengal, told IANS.

"I have explored so many sides of India with the characters that I have played till now. And now I am hoping that someday I get to play a Bhojpuri or a Bihari character. That will be fun," he added.

Talking about "Jaat Ki Jugni", Vishal said: "With this show, I got to do something different. I was asked to learn a bit of Haryanvi to give a perfect feel to my character. Bittu is a dynamic character. All the characters in the show are bold and larger than life.

"Also, the makers have put in a lot of action to enthral the audience."

Vishal says he is happy to see a lot of north India-based stories coming up in both films and TV shows.

"Everything has its phase. Right now north India-based movies are doing well. Suddenly, the whole interest of Bollywood has shifted to north India. That's why on TV also we are getting to see a lot of shows based around that region," he said.

"Jaat Ki Jugni", which will also feature Madirakshi Mundle, Rakesh Pandey and Yash Tonk, will be aired on Sony Entertainment Television starting from Monday.
