Celeb dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9 (BBC Worldwide), even before beaming its first episode, has hit headlines.

We bring you some exclusive updates from the show, as informed to us by our credible sources.  

Media reported about Hrithik Roshan being finalized to feature in Jhalak season 9 as the first celebrity guest to promote his forthcoming film Mohenjo Daro.

Our sources informed that the contestants were super excited and were gearing up to dole out a fun episode with Hrithik. However, all plans fell flat when the actor with Greek God looks backed out at the last minute.

We have learnt that the channel wanted Hrithik to appear in ‘roast comedy’ Comedy Nights Bachao (Optimystix) as well, along with Jhalak.

“Comedy Nights Bachao started on a good note, however it recently got embroiled in controversies. Top of that, the roast format isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Hrithik, thus, backed out from Comedy and Jhalak both,” validated another industry source.

There is more meat to the story.

We have also been told that due to channel’s insistence on every celebrity appearing in Comedy Nights Bachao and Jhalak (like a combo offer), Akshay Kumar might also give both the shows a miss as part of promotional campaign for his upcoming movie Rustom.   

Akshay was supposed to shoot for Jhalak but has not given any dates yet, raising more doubts.

“Akshay is not comfortable featuring in Comedy Nights Bachao after all the ruckus last time. We all know about how he got into a tiff and slapped comedian Siddarth Jadhav for passing racist remarks on Lisa Haydon. Things are still being discussed, but chances are high that Akshay too might back out to avoid unnecessary hullaballoo,” added the source.

We texted Bachao hosts Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh for a comment, but did not receive any response till the time of filing the article.

Channel spokesperson too did not revert to our query.

BBC Producer Myleeta Aga stated, "Film integrations are managed by the channel so I have no comment on this." While, Vipul D Shah (Optimystix) remained unavailable.
